For students, some of the trickiest adjustments to distance learning has been mathematics. Now that the dust has settled and we are looking ahead, are your kids math-ready for the fall? What will your kids be doing this summer? Create a plan now and your students will have a productive 8 weeks that sets them up for success in school.

Meditating: You Can’t Do This Wrong

I won’t be the 900th person to announce that meditation is good for us and we all should really be doing it. Let’s keep our to-do lists very short right now, please. But if you want to meditate, or have tried and given up before, maybe these thoughts from my experiences meditating can help. 

Parents: How We Can Be the Math Teachers Our Children Need Right Now

Math is often a lightening rod for anxiety.  As a math teacher and tutor, I can’t count the number of times a day I hear students (and parents!) tell me, “I’m not a math person!” with either a nervous laugh or serious panic.  Meanwhile, our shelter-at-home means that students may not have as much instant access to their math teachers. But parents: there are ways that you CAN help, and you don’t have to end up in a screaming match with your child that leaves them feeling helpless and you feeling inadequate.

Equality vs. Equity
